As part of Play MOCA’s series, (this particuar night featuring SALEM, Io Echo, andDrew Barrymore’s art, somehow) Smashbox the makeup company handed out lipstick-filled ballons.  Red lipstick.  Perfect lipstick.

Tag an Instagram photo with said hashtag, find a printout waiting for you at the photo booth.

And planning isn’t always about research.

Cemetery

Recently I wrapped work as production coordinator on a party designed by Largetail, produced by Natalie Montgomery of Mutato, and curated by Tara McGinley of Dangerous Minds.

Food Truck

Guests got everything for free– specialty cocktails by Jonny Ericsen, food truck grub, performances, VIP treatment, valet, and after hours access to the Hollywood Forever Cemetery and their Masonic Lodge.

DJDJ

As a party, it was a social success.

Old relationships were rekindled (see me and DJ Turquoise Wisdom realizing we are old Chicago roommates).  Hookups happened (staff secrets I shall never tell.)

Blogs called it magical.

Radiohead’s Thom Yorke being the special DJ guest and live mixing tracks after hours to a frenzied freaking crew of dancers was… once in a lifetime?
